Alessio is originally Italian, he trained as a classical pianist as a child, but then became a chef and subsequently joined the Italian parachute regiment for his national service. He moved to the UK in 1997 (he thought he would stay for three months just to learn English and found love) where he completed his psychology degree and clinical psychology doctoral studies. These days he enjoys spending his spare time low-water fishing and time out at sea fishing and spearfishing, and walking around Jersey with his Cavachon Eevee.
He is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Associate Fellow, listed on the Expert Witnesses Directory of the British Psychological Society and registered with the HCPC. He provides teaching, psychological therapy, expert reports, Court opinion and has developed an interest in psychological distress relating to traumas, interpersonal difficulties and mindfulness and compassion-based interventions and therapies. He is an EMDR Europe accredited therapist. He has provided consultation to UK and local Government agencies and regularly presents at work, research conferences, leadership events and not-for-profit events, as well as contributing to various research, organizational change and development initiatives, including in the UK, UAE, Canada and Italy.
He is an adult Dyslexia diagnostic/identification and workplace needs assessor and a honorary visiting research fellow at LJMU a specialist mindfulness provider and consultant. He was a Committee Member of Dyslexia Jersey until 2014, a Committee Member of the Jersey Personal Injury Medicolegal Society (JPIMS) from 2009 till 2016 and president of the Jersey Association of Italian Culture (JAIC) from 2016 to 2018.
